Trash to Treasure?

We went garage saling this morning...it was madness!  Canyon Crest, which is a beautiful gated community about 5 minutes from our home, was having a community garage sale.  There were a lot of people and a lot of over priced items, but not this one.  Free is always a great price.  I'm hoping that this will be my first trash to treasure project.  I think it has some good potential.  Of course I have no time until this summer, but eventually I will get around to this.  And if it is a total failure...it was free!
