Target had these fabulous bright napkins for summer--4 patterned and 4 solid colors. I saw them from afar and was drawn over to them instantly. They were on sale and so I decided to transform them into pillows. I have been wanting some Trina Turk looking designs in my home decor for awhile and this has motivated me to start to redecorate my den!
My first real sewing project was easy enough for me to conquer, but cute enough that I'm rather proud of it! Now let's take into account the fact that I've only ever sewed in home ec in 8th grade...where I made an apron. Not super impressive, but enough to let me know that I want to learn to do more. So, my sewing adventures are going to be a little rocky at first, but my hope is that one day, I will be sewing some pretty fabulous things! As for this first project I transformed some napkins into pillows. The fact that these napkins were already cut took a lot of the stress out of the situation as I didn't have to cut the fabric or anything, just simply pin and sew!

The napkins with designs were a little longer on one side than the solid napkins and so I had to be creative in how I was going to close off and finish the pillow. I originally thought that I would use buttons finish off and close the opening, but eventually decided that I would use ribion to tie it closed. This ended up working well and it prevented the baggy look and finished off the pillows nicely!
I love the way they turned out and how bright and fun they are! They just scream summer and I am very well pleased!
Here's to many more sewing projects in the future and to the Trina Turk look that these pillows give my house...I love them!
