Today is the day we have been waiting for and anticipating for the last 24 days. Josh and I have been celebrating advent and focusing our eyes on God this season through daily scripture readings, daily Christmas activities, and weekly lighting our advent wreath.
Our advent wreath has five candles. Each candle represents something that helps us prepare our hearts for Christ's coming on Christmas. The first four candles are the candles of faith, hope, joy, and love. The fifth candle is the Christ candle. Each of the four Sundays leading up to Christmas we light a new candle as we are reminded of what we have in Christ and the gifts that His salvation brings for us. In Christ we have hope, joy, faith, and love!
Today we lit the final candle, the Christ candle, as we celebrate the birth of our Savior. It is great to celebrate the miracle and love that is the birth of Jesus.
God has given us so much, but the best gift of all is his son Jesus Christ. As we celebrated Christmas yesterday and today we remember the amazing gift we have in Christ. We praise God that because of this day it is possible for sinful man to live forevermore with God!
